The twin-engine CH-53 Jolly Green helicopter is capable of lifting 7 tons (6.35 metric tons.) The helicopter carries 37 passengers in its normal configuration and 55 passengers with centerline seats installed.

The CH-53 Sea Stallion is a heavy-lift cargo helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky. It was designed and developed to be used by the United States Marine Corps. It also served different countries such as Germany, Iran, and Israel. It was named MH-53 Pace Low by the United States Air Force. Its primary users are the United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, and German Army. The CH-53 is still active in service as of the present time.

In 1962, the CH-53A was ordered to meet the Marine Corps requirements for their heavy-lift type of helicopter. On the 12th of October 1964, its maiden flight took place. In 1968, the aircraft joined the Israeli Air force and was named Yasur. It became the main cargo helicopter of the IAF that carried troops and other heavy equipments.

The CH-53/HH-53 experienced a number of combat during its service with the United States military. During the War of Attrition in 1970, Israeli Air Force Yasur CH-53s landed in Egypt and captured the Soviet radar with advanced system. It was brought back to Israel for it to be examined by the Israeli scientists and engineers. In 1989 the Yasur was used in a huge fight on Mount Carmel. It was also operated by the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force to support the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The United States Navy also operated the CH-53 to support the same operation as that of the Air Force and Marines.
